About Students First Foundation Students First Foundation (SFF) is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation with the mission of promoting and supporting life opportunities for every child through equal, high-quality public education. SFF is committed to:
Promoting quality-learning opportunities for every schoolchild. SFF will serve the public interest:
 | Educate the public about the policy-making and legislative process with regard to the formulation of public education policy. |  | Identify opportunities for the public to participate in the policy-making process. |  | Communicate the societal benefits of providing every child with access to high-quality public education. |  | Help individual citizens, including persons involved with local schools, either as volunteers, elected board members or as employees, understand the policy making process. |  | Encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote and participate in the governance of their local schools. |  | Provide schoolchildren with a strong voice in the policy-making process. |
Encouraging an open, public dialogue on the issues affecting the education of our children and comprehensive solutions to protect the future of every child. SFF will serve the public interest:
 | Provide individual citizens with news and information regarding the condition of public education in Illinois. |  | Provide individuals and organizations involved in public education with opportunities for communicating their positions. |  | Create public forums to review, discuss and analyze public policy regarding public education. |
Developing grant opportunities for organizations with missions for promoting quality education. Grants will be considered to promote and enhance equal, high-quality public education for all children. Requests should be submitted in the form of a brief letter including the following:
 | The purpose of the project for which funds are being requested; |  | Problems and Issues the proposed project will address; |  | Information about the organization conducting the project; |  | Estimated overall budget for the project; |  | Period of time for which funds are requested; and |  | Qualifications of those who will be engaged in the project. |
All activities supported by grants must be charitable, educational or scientific, as defined under the appropriate provisions of the U.S Internal Revenue Code and Treasury Regulations.
Serving as an informational resource for the media, elected officials, public and local communities. SFF will serve the public interest:
 | Serve as a centralized clearing house for news, information and activity affecting public education. |  | Help local education advocates, volunteers and citizens communicate their needs, concerns and ideas with local, regional and state audiences. |  | Educate the news media about issues affecting our school children.
